The Department of Education oversees programmes that nurture learning, character, and spiritual growth from early childhood through adulthood within the Dawoodi Bohra community. Guided by the vision of His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the department brings together multiple educational initiatives within a single, integrated framework that supports the holistic development of Dawoodi Bohra learners worldwide.
At the heart of this framework lies the lifelong pursuit of knowledge as a means to cultivate intellectual excellence, humility, discipline, and a spirit of service. Building on this tradition, the department supervises and unifies a diverse global schooling system comprising more than 63 schools across several countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. In addition, most cities and towns with a Dawoodi Bohra presence operate structured community-based religious instruction programmes for children and young people up to adulthood, ensuring that foundational learning and values-based education remain accessible at the local level.
These institutions offer a balanced blend of academic education, faith-based understanding, experiential learning, and ethical formation. Students are encouraged to excel intellectually while grounding their daily lives in responsibility, compassion, and conduct inspired by faith.
The department also oversees Mahad al-Zahra, the global centre for the memorisation of the holy Quran and study of Quranic sciences in the Dawoodi Bohra community. Mahad al-Zahra promotes mastery in correct pronunciation and melodic recitation while expanding access in remote locations through its digital learning platforms. The department was among the early adopters of online Quranic education, enabling learners from across the world to benefit from high-quality instruction.
By bringing together schools, Quranic learning institutes, community-based instruction programmes, and advanced centres of study under one umbrella, the Department of Education strengthens coherence and raises standards across the Dawoodi Bohra educational ecosystem. Its unified structure supports continuous improvement in curriculum design, pedagogy, teacher development, and digital innovation, ensuring that educational efforts remain relevant, accessible, and closely aligned with the ethos of Dawat-e-Hadiyah.
